Removing the Clay

Removing the damp clay from inside the dried sculptures can be time-consuming. It is easier to cut the paper mache model into two or more sections using a sharp blade and pull it from the clay. Dispose of any pieces of cling film left on the clay and inside the sculpture.

Sections of the paper mache model should be re-assembled as soon as possible, first with tape then with paper mache. This method can leave the original clay sculpture almost perfect giving the option of making further models.
