Making Connections with Others

These paper mache sculptures and models provide the ‘ground’ for further self-portrait studies.

Making connections with other artists, cultures and times may be done with a trip to the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

As well as more traditional paintings and sculptures, pupils also study artwork that explores ‘self’, such as Tracy Emin’s ‘Unmade Bed’ and her ‘Everyone I’ve Ever Slept With’ tent.

Pop Artist Claes Oldenburg’s ‘Pastry Cases’, Duchamp’s ‘Urinal’, Jeff Koons’ plastic toys and Damien Hirst’s ‘Cornucopia’ provide further stimulation and inspiration.
